In this interview, we have the pleasure of speaking with our distributor Jarosław Gaweł, Sales manager at GRAW. Jarosław brings over 7 years of experience at GRAW and has been in the printing industry since 2003. GRAW, a seasoned distributor in the Polish market for 30 years, has been collaborating with Swedev for over two decades. Jarosław shares insights into his favorite Swedcut® doctor blades and their unique benefits.
Can you tell us about some of your favorite Swedcut® Doctor Blades?
I don’t have one favorite Swedcut® blade. There are several. When I joined GRAW, I discovered the MicroNox II blade. It’s a brilliant blade for printers who work with water-based inks. The blade is very gentle on aniloxes while being durable. In corrugated printing, it can maintain its properties for days. Thanks to its flexibility, we also have success using these blades in printers that use solvent and UV inks.
Another discovery of mine is the M-Flex Plus blade. There is no other blade like it on the market. The M-Flex Plus blade, at a thickness of 0.25 mm and with a radius tip, extends the runs of the machine several times. You no longer have to stop the entire machine due to white ink after 40,000 – 60,000 meters just to change one blade. This blade greatly improves productivity.
Lastly, the H7 blade has become indispensable for many printers. Initially refined to meet demanding parameters, it has become the go-to choice for many printers tackling challenging jobs. Printers who were using other blades began implementing it as their solution “for difficult jobs.” While other blades were causing various issues, the H7 performed without any problems. As a result, printers started reaching for it more frequently until it became their everyday blade. Today, there is an increasing expectation from customers for a single blade to meet all demands as the ideal, universal blade. I can’t think of a blade more suited for this task than the H7.
What, in your opinion, is the true value of Swedcut® blades?
The primary value lies in Swedcuts® steel quality, characterized by homogeneity, fine granularity, and exceptional repeatability. These qualities translate into unmatched performance and longevity compared to competitors’ blades. Swedev’s advanced laboratory capabilities enable precise problem identification, often beyond blade-related issues. Customers benefit from stable production processes ensuring that only top-quality blades leave the factory, backed by extensive technical support.
